On Thursday 15 October, more than 30 international students took part in the Cesena4Talents Welcome Day, an evening designed to help them get to know the city, its innovation ecosystem and the people and services who can support them during their stay.

The event was organised in partnership with the Campus di Cesena of the University of Bologna and in collaboration with Connect Cesena, a group of international students, who curated the main activity. It followed a first presentation of Cesena4Talents to Work, Organizational and Personnel Psychology students at the Campus, where we introduced our services to the new academic year’s students.

From the Campus to CesenaLab

The afternoon began with a walk from the Campus to CesenaLab, an opportunity to present each other and socialize. At CesenaLab, Franco Callegati, President of CesenaLab and Full Professor at the University of Bologna, introduced the local innovation ecosystem followed by Simona Bielli, who presented the Cesena4Talents services she is in charge of and the opportunities offered by the programme, and Nadiyah Niigata, one of the Cesena4Talents Buddies.

Mapping a welcoming city

Next, the students took part in an activity curated by Connect Cesena and introduced by Vero Mannfels (Connect Cesena). Working on a map of Cesena, they had to guess which places are most popular with international students and which are the most welcoming for newcomers. For example, do you know where to go if your bike gets stolen? Or where you can watch a movie in its original language? This fun activity was a light way to discover the city and to share tips with each other.

Welcome to Cesena at the Town Hall

The group then walked to Piazza del Popolo, where Giorgia Macrelli, Councillor for Youth and Diversity Policies, University and Research of the Municipality of Cesena, welcomed the students at the Town Hall. The evening ended with drinks and time to get to know each other.

Many thanks to the Campus di Cesena, CesenaLab and Connect Cesena for making this afternoon possible, and to all the students who joined us.
