Making Pasta Night at Cucine Popolari: hands in the dough, hearts at the table
On October 27th, Cesena 4 Talents and Connect Cesena held a Making Pasta Night at Cucine Popolari in Cesena. 16 talents from 10 countries took part.

The Cucine Popolari volunteers gave us a warm and caring welcome. Their cheerfulness and enthusiasm quickly spread to the participants, who tried their hand at sfoglia (fresh egg pasta dough) and tagliatelle. Working in groups with four sfogline (traditional pasta makers), everyone had a go at rolling out the dough.
Then we moved to the kitchen to see how fresh homemade tagliatelle are cooked. They were served with a vegetarian sauce and we ate them all together. The evening didn’t end there: the team wanted us to have a full Cucine Popolari meal, so a main course and dessert followed.
Some of the talents asked to become volunteers and have already joined the Cucine Popolari team. For us, this was the best outcome of the evening: newcomers to the city finding their place in the local community.
About Cucine Popolari
Cucine Popolari Cesena is a volunteer association (ODV) that offers food and human connection to anyone who needs it, with particular attention to people facing economic and social hardship. Its motto is “mangia ciò che vuoi, paga ciò che puoi” (eat what you want, pay what you can): those who cannot afford a meal sit down and eat, and those who can also contribute for the person sitting next to them. It is not a soup kitchen but a place for everyone, where people eat together like a family. The association relies on its volunteers and on donations of time, food and money.
Many thanks to Oriana Casadei, President of Cucine Popolari Cesena, and to all the volunteers who made the evening possible. Thanks also to Connect Cesena for the collaboration.
